Destroilet Updates, Plus News From The Sault Michigan Area!!

Let's get back to the news on this Tuesday morning, so what stories are in the pipeline? Today, we're split between a recently dormant local band and their big new plans (and a classic video to go along with it) and updates from a few bands in the Eastern U.P., one of which has a new video! For all of today's news and notes, read on below for what you need to know!

Local old school hardcore quintet Destroilet are continuing their largely quiet studio work, and in the band's most recent updates, they've revealed full plans for their second CD! According to their Facebook page, they're planning to release a self-titled 12-song CD "very soon", and thanks to drummer Matt Waples, I can confirm the planned track listing for it! The album will feature all 6 songs from their 2011 debut EP, though they've just been remastered from those recordings, and not redone in the new sessions. The other 6 songs are from Destroilet's 2012 studio work, and they include new original songs named "Truly Infected", "R.O.Y.C.", and "Eternal Fire", along with covers of The Ducky Boys' "Cross To Bear" (Walk Proud, Stand Tall)", former local band Fistmagnet's "Evil God Hater", and a song named "Tourettes" (perhaps the Nirvana song of that name?) This is the CD's planned cover, and Matt told me that they're hoping to have the CD out by the end of the year, with a planned return to the stage by mid-January (which would be their first public concert in almost two years if it occurs), though nothing is final as of yet.

As a preview of what's to come, Destroilet uploaded the full version of their new song "Eternal Fire" to their MySpace page to check out! I won't go into details on my thoughts on it yet, as I expect to review the CD in January if release expectations hold up, but fans of Destroilet's older work shouldn't be disappointed! I'm cautiously optimistic on these new plans, but hopefully the guys will be back in high gear like they were in 2009 & 2010 in no time, so fingers crossed we hear more from their camp soon, check out the new updates above, and stay tuned later in this post for more from Destroilet!

Next up, here's the newest video from Kinross hard rock quartet Banned! Though posted onto usual filmer Ashley Traynor's YouTube channel last week, this video actually comes from former guest bassist Eric Cairns via his new film production company Third Cinema Productions, which alone suggests a good quality video! Shot at one of Banned's shows at The Runway Bar in Hessel last month, this is of Banned covering the Foster the People song "Pumped Up Kicks", and while it's softer than much of their general covers, it's not badly executed! Guitarist Alex Traynor handles lead vocals here, and "occasional" singer Mike Straw is not featured. Also of note, Grooves Music owner and veteran local musician Gary Hatch guested with Banned on rhythm guitar for this song (remember, Alex Schrʚvenwever is attending college out of town), and Gary adds well to the proceedings! The video quality is pretty good, but dancers do get in the way at times, and the lighting can impair the quality a bit, though overall, it's pretty good, so check out Banned's newest video below!

Thirdly today, here's the latest news and notes from Kincheloe metal project Chained Memories! Continuing with their very unstable lineup, the band quietly confirmed in recent months that Chris Tolliver has signed on as their new bassist (replacing Mikaela White), while guitarist Ryan Nicklas returned to the band following a brief departure, and founder/drummer Mike Rynberg is returning to vocal duties as well, following the departure of now-Eleventh Hour singer Sean Roush. Notably, there were plans to have a demo of their first song posted in October (via their Facebook page), but unless it's on personal pages only, it hasn't came yet. There's still a lot of unknowns for Chained Memories' sound, but Mike's put in a lot of work to get this band off the ground, and hopefully Ryan & Chris are the right fits going forward! Lastly for notes relating to Mike Rynberg's musical output, I've discovered that Mike apparently is working on another area metal project, that being a deathcore band named Bleeding Beauty. There's way too little on their pages yet to warrant full coverage on the site, but if I hear anything more from them or Chained Memories, you'll hear it here!

Finally for today, here's this week's classic video! I couldn't tie in a new video with a band playing live this weekend that I could find, but with Destroilet activity ramping up, I thought I'd bookend this post with another old video of theirs, now finally on YouTube! In mid-2009, the guys posted a handful of videos to their Facebook group, one of which has already made it to YouTube, but for this week, I've posted their cover of The Billy Bastards' "Mile 58", which was on last year's debut EP and will also be on their planned new album! Filmed at a jam session circa May 2009, at least three band members are present (singer Mike Hull, drummer Matt Waples, and guitarist Christian Foisy, I think), and they do a good job on this cover, giving this local country/punk tune a nice hardcore assaulting! I just wish the camera was positioned better, as only Matt is reasonably visible. Uploaded by Christian to Facebook after it's filming, you can check out the original video at http://facebook.com/photo.php?v=84617907604, but I brightened the lighting after the YouTube upload.

NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT IS INTENDED!!! All credit for this video goes to Destroilet, I'm just trying to share it with a deserving wider audience! It's a solid cover for you old school hardcore fans, so give it a look below, and stay tuned for new Destroilet updates when & if they come in!

That's probably all for today, but stay tuned for more news, weekend concert previews, and more this week! Thanks everyone!
