LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS (Caveman & Tym Morrison) And Lots Of Haggith Updates!!

We're back with another news post to help kick off this work week, and for the first time in almost two weeks, we have a post that is 100% devoted to Sault Ontario bands and concerts! Today, we have the latest videos from a newer local band, details on their newest band member, and leading things off, some long awaited LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS for the returns of two linked local metal acts to the local stage, so here's what you need to know!

After almost a month away from the local concert stage, local metal cover trio Caveman Morrison have announced two new concert weekends for this fall, starting with a pair of shows THIS WEEKEND at The Roosevelt Hotel! It'll be good to see Tym, Dutch, and Johnny back rocking some proficient metal & hard rock classics for their fans at The Rosie on Friday & Saturday night, and with the recent slowdown in new concerts, this might be even more worth hitting as a result, so keep their return in mind for this weekend! The other new shows are a pair of Halloween weekend dates for Caveman Morrison at The Nicolet Tavern on October 26th & 27th, which will be their first shows at the Albert Street venue in around three months. As these are over the Halloween weekend, costumes are encouraged for this weekend of metal covers, so keep that in mind if you need something do on either the Friday or Saturday! Admission is 19+ for all four of these shows, there shouldn't be a cover at any of them, and the start times are 9:30 PM for the Nicolet shows and 10:00 PM for the Rosie ones. Click here and here for each concert weekend's respective Facebook event pages! These should be some entertaining concert weekends from Caveman Morrison, so consider them for your fall concert hopping, including THIS WEEKEND at The Rosie!

Staying with new concerts relating to Caveman Morrison frontman Tym Morrison, have you missed his solo concerts since his last acoustic gigs in July? Well, they're coming back next month for two new concerts, and both at new venues for him! The shows will be Saturday night gigs on October 5th and 12th, with the first one taking place at The Steamy Bean at 357 Great Northern Road (just down the road from Staples.) The Bean is a frequent acoustic venue for local artists, but this is the first I've ever heard of a proper announced hard rock show there, so if you're in the area, go check Tym out at The Steamy Bean on the 5th! The latter show will see Tym debut his solo unplugged set at The Roadhouse Bar & Grill at 743 Trunk Road (not to be confused with The Zone Roadhouse in Goulais River, which Tym has also played shows at.) It's rare to see a heavier concert so far east in the Soo, but if you've ever craved a concert closer to The Rad Zone and anything further east than The Canadian and downtown, you might wanna take note of Tym's show there on the 12th! Both of these solo concerts have 10:00 PM start times, no advertised cover charge, and I'd assume 19+ age limits. For more details, click here and here for these shows' respective Facebook event pages!

It's great to see Tym bringing back his solo concerts along with the Caveman Morrison return shows as well, and hopefully we'll see more of him acoustically and with the band throughout the rest of 2012 and beyond! Stay tuned for more concert updates from any of Tym's projects as they come in, and definitely consider hitting his solo & Caveman shows this fall!

Next up, here's the latest updates from new local grunge band Haggith! First, the guys announced on Friday that they've added former Acention bassist Caleb Cachagee to their lineup, officially making them a quartet. Caleb (at the far left of this photo) was present at their Sault Ontario debut gig at The Rosie on Thursday, as per this Facebook photo album, though I'm not positive if he played with them that night. He's taking over full bass duties from guitarist Daniel Horton, who previously handled that role also for the recording of their forthcoming debut album "Dragon Joy Ride". Caleb's somewhat of an unknown commodity, but he does have bass talent from what I've seen, and his brother Mikey has a history with most of Haggith's members in bands like 20 Pack of Marshmallows, so this should work out for all parties! The new quartet lineup is further established by a pile of new photos on their Facebook page showing the Haggith members in various fun outdoor settings (and at The Rosie), so hopefully we'll hear lots more good things from them in the coming months, but where can we see and hear the new lineup in full? Via the Haggith YouTube channel, of course!

Alongside an upload of the final version of their original song "I Am" (their earlier upload of that track is now labelled as a studio outtake), they uploaded 7 videos from a recent set (very recent, given Caleb's in it) at their studio Paperclip Productions (likely also their jam session location) yesterday, which you can view in the playlist "23 Minutes of Haggith" or at the links below! In order, the videos include Haggith playing their songs "Wanko", "The Married Massacre", "Livin' It On The Run", "No Cure For Insanity", "I Am", a cover of Cheap Trick's "Reach Out", and a "swing version" of "Wanko", so click each link to see them in action! For reference sake, every original song in this set will be on their "Dragon Joy Ride" album, with only "Sandman", "Yesterday's Frustration", and "Rage Train" absent. The video quality's pretty good, with clear audio and some interesting dreamlike filter on the videos, but Caleb's often hard to see due to his placement in the frame. The Cheap Trick cover is hit & miss to me too, it doesn't strike me as a great fit for their sound. Solid stuff, and a nice newer glimpse at what Haggith bring to the table live, so check out the first song from this set below, and stay tuned for more Haggith news as it comes in!

That's all for today, but stay tuned for last month's poll results and this month's new poll at the SMS tomorrow! Thanks everyone!
